Homemade Pancakes with a Golden Crisp

These Old Fashioned Pancakes are the perfect balance of crispy edges and soft, fluffy interiors. The warm golden brown colour gives them an inviting look, while the rich buttery aroma fills the kitchen, making them impossible to resist.

  1. Ingredients:
  • 200g plain flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 300ml milk
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter, plus extra for frying

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the egg, then whisk in the milk and melted butter.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until combined, being careful not to overmix (the batter should be slightly lumpy).
  4. Heat a non-stick frying pan or griddle over medium heat and add a small knob of butter.
  5. Pour a small ladle of batter onto the pan, cooking for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  6. Serve warm with your favourite toppings, such as syrup, fresh berries, or whipped cream.
