NYC Style Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda; set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs one at a time, mixing until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
  7. Drop large spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft. Let cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
